Fact Check:
A picture message viral on social media in various languages alleges to show Bundles of Fake Notes Seized from Car of RSS Supporter Ketan Dave. Accompanying messages also criticize Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), mentioning closure of RBI and handing over the currency printing and operations to him. Despite the popularity, the claims are not true and explained here.
About the Accompanying Pictures
The pictures circulating with the messages in fact show Police officials seizing bundles of Rs 2000 notes in India. However, the actual incident is an old one not related to any Ketan Dave. In early November 2019, Khammam Police in Telangana State of India seized 320 bundles of Rs. 2000 denomination fake notes with a face value of around Rs 6.4 Crores. Police arrested five people for cheating public in guise of exchanging the Rs. 2,000 denomination currency notes (banned) and offering 20% commission. Below is a video showing and describing the seizure. Again, the incident is not related to any Ketan Dave from Gujarat supporting RSS.
Fake Notes Seized from Car of Ketan Dave
Although the accompanying pictures are from an old incident, we checked for the presence of any news related to fake notes and Ketan Dave in Gujarat. In early March 2017, Gujarat’s Rajkot City Police seized over 15,000 fake Rs 2,000 currency notes with a face value of over Rs 3 Crore from Ketan Dave’s car in Sukhsagar society. The police search at the time was part of an investigation into a cheating case on Ketan Dave and his close aide Shailesh Patel. Ketan Dave ran an accounting firm and used to print counterfeit currency notes with help of few others. Police arrested six people in the case at the time. Below is a Gujrati news report on the case involving Ketan Dave.

On the other hand, there are no credible news reports to suggest the businessman Ketan Dave belonged to or was a supporter of RSS. So, the picture messages claiming to show bundles of fake notes seized in Gujarat from the Car of loyal RSS supporter Ketan Dave are hoaxes. Looks like, two old incidents are mixed up to fabricate fake news against RSS.
